Charlene & Jae's Skyline Drive Elopement at Raven's Roost and Staunton, Virginia
Charlene and Jae have a very special place in our hearts forever now. These two were married October 21st, 2021 in Staunton, Virginia. They held their intimate ceremony in the courtyard of the Augusta County Courthouse with Staunton’s iconic brick buildings in the background with a small circle of family and friends.
After the sweet ceremony we all walked a few blocks to Aioli’s for lunch, cocktails, coffee and cake which were all super freaking delicious, I mean just look at the photos of the food and drool, please if you are in Staunton do yourself a favor and eat at Aioli’s.
The weather was beautiful all day, until we started on our way to Raven’s Roost on Skyline Drive, the black clouds were over head and it was starting to drizzle. When we got to Ravens Roost it was super windy and the clouds seemed like they were going to stay, however in true Love and Sol fashion the sun dipped in between the clouds and the mountains on the horizon and we had the most epic sunset just for them. Raven’s Roost was super special to Charlene since it over looks her grandmother’s land. These two were just so magical, but we had to say goodbye, these two were headed back to a cabin in the mountains to finish celebrating with their family and friends. On our way home we noticed the huge full moon and we remembered how Charlene told us about her tattoo and how her grandmother loved the moon, we HAD to pull over and grab a shot of the moon on her wedding day.
Besides meeting these beautiful humans and capturing their love story, this one was so special to us because Charlene and Jae actually surprised us with the best gift. Like most of our weddings, our clients come to us because someone has recommended us. My bestie Carter (and number one supporter!) had shared our info with Charlene but since it was an elopement we did not expect her to be there. Charlene knew…but didn’t share that we were the photographers with Carter and she didn’t share with us that Carter would actually be there. I had not seen Carter since the beginning of the pandemic (almost two years) so when she came around the corner it was THE BEST surprise for both of us!! Thank you to Charlene and Jae for that huge surprise, what a true gift.
